When you order the donair spice, we provide you the simple steps to make the meat for a traditional donair as well as the recipe and steps to make the famous Halifax donair sauce.  It's important to note, we suggest frying the meat to get crispy pieces - it will not be the same slim strips you get in donair shops (unless you have a donair spit at home) - but you can also mix the beef and spices into a loaf and bake it in the oven, then slice it and serve.

Once you've got your meat prepared and your sauce whipped up, simply put your desired amount in a fresh pita and top it with diced tomatoes and onions. That's it, that's all. Seriously, no lettuce or other veggies. Keep it pure.

There are other ways to enjoy the great flavour of donairs beyond the traditional pita. Take a look below for these other great ways to use the spice:

Donair Meatballs

  • Mix 1 lb of lean ground beef with 2 tbsp of Drunken Sailor Donair Spice
  • Form into small 3/4 inch round meat balls (smaller is better for ultimate crispiness and maximum sauce potential)
  • Fry until crispy
  • Mix donair sauce
  • Enjoy the euphoria...

Donair Dip

  • 1tbsp Drunken Sailor Donair Spice
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic flakes
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp white sugar
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

Combine and refrigerate for 1 hour. Then serve with pita wedges. BAM donair dip!
